Bank statements that stop two months before application date invite questions. So do SME financials that are unsigned, undated, or obviously photocopied from a prior facility without a fresh accountant letter when policy requires one.

During underwriting file review we reconcile the credit memo’s stated monthly income to the documents on file. Gaps smaller than a rounding difference rarely matter; gaps that change debt-service ratios do.

A site visit note can compensate for thin paperwork — but only if the note records what was observed, who visited, and when. “Seems fine” is not evidence.
